India has been building its own military equipment, like ships, planes, and missiles.

Ten years ago, India made about 46,000 crore rupees worth of defence stuff in a year.

Last year, it made about 1.78 lakh crore rupees worth, which is almost four times more.

India also sells its military equipment to other countries.

In 2013-14, India sold defence products worth 686 crore rupees, but now it sells goods worth over 38,000 crore rupees.

The government is spending more money on the military and on research to invent new technology.

Indian scientists tested new missiles and a special rocket engine that could help make hypersonic weapons.

The country is also encouraging private companies to help build defence equipment.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh shared these numbers with soldiers on the day before India's 80th Independence Day.

He said the government wants the military to be modern and the country to be self-reliant.
