Delhi Plans Water Network Overhaul With Rs 2,500-Crore Loan
Delhi wants to improve how water reaches people’s homes.
It plans to use a Rs 2,500-crore loan from the Asian Development Bank.
The work is meant to reduce water shortages and stop leaks.
Workers would build or improve about 836 km of water pipes.
Nearly 570 km of this would involve new or replacement pipelines.
The government also plans 131 special areas called District Metered Areas.
These areas will help officials measure how much water enters the system and how much is lost.
Two project packages have already been approved for the area supplied by the Wazirabad water treatment plant.
