Delhi Extends 100% Water Bill LPSC Waiver Till March 2027
DJB extends LPSC waiver till March 2027; over 5.27 lakh consumers benefited from the scheme · thestatesman.com

Sometimes when people pay their water bill late, they have to pay extra money on top of it, called a Late Payment Surcharge.

This extra money can grow so big that the bill becomes very hard to pay.

The government of Delhi made a special rule to help people.

If people paid just the original amount they owed, all the extra late fees would be forgiven.

This help was going to end soon, but the government has now extended it until March 2027.

More than 5.27 lakh people and businesses have already used this help.

The government says it has forgiven Rs 3,261 crore in late fees and collected Rs 815.84 crore in original bills.

The water minister said this is a simple and fair plan.

He also said this is the final extension, so people should make sure to pay their bills on time.

“"For a family, an old water bill can remain a worry for years. When LPSC keeps getting added, the amount can become difficult to clear. We wanted to give people a genuine opportunity – pay the principal amount and leave the burden of LPSC behind."”

“"We are not asking people to pay more. We are asking people to pay what they actually owe. If the principal amount is paid, 100 per cent LPSC will be waived."”
