Modi Begins Central Asia Visit, Putin Meeting Set for SCO

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking a four-day trip to Central Asia.

He will first visit Tashkent in Uzbekistan on August 29 and 30.

There, he will meet President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to discuss cooperation between India and Uzbekistan.

Their discussions will include trade, defence, energy, education and digital connectivity.

Modi will then travel to Bishkek in the Kyrgyz Republic.

He will attend a meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, or SCO.

He is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin during the summit.

They are expected to discuss the relationship between India and Russia.

Modi will also speak about security, connectivity and opportunity and attend the World Nomad Games ceremony.
