Modi Arrives in Kyrgyzstan for SCO Summit and Regional Talks
Prime Minister Narendra Modi traveled to Kyrgyzstan for an important regional meeting.
The meeting is hosted by the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, or SCO.
Leaders will discuss security, transportation links and opportunities for countries to work together.
Modi is expected to meet Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
He will also attend the opening of the World Nomad Games.
Kyrgyzstan hopes the visit will bring more Indian investment and trade.
The SCO is celebrating 25 years since it was created.
India says it wants the region to be peaceful, connected and prosperous.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Sunday for the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
The August 31–September 1 summit coincides with the SCO’s 25th anniversary and brings together its 10 member countries.
Modi is expected to meet Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov and Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines.
He will promote India’s regional priorities of security, connectivity and opportunity, including cooperation against terrorism, separatism and extremism.
Modi will also attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, while Kyrgyzstan seeks stronger economic ties with India.
