Only 1 of 15 Railway Stations Clear PPP Redevelopment Appraisal
Indian Railways wants to rebuild old train stations so they look modern and have better facilities.
To pay for this work, they want private companies to help with the money, which is called a public-private partnership.
The ministry chose 15 stations across India for this plan.
So far, only one station, Vijayawada Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh, has finished the first big planning steps.
A special government committee said yes to its plan.
But when they asked companies to build it, no company made an offer.
So the ministry has to ask for offers again.
The other 14 stations are still just being planned and studied.
These include big stations like Chennai Central, Delhi Junction, and Pune.
A minister named Ashwini Vaishnaw shared this update in Parliament.
The Railways Ministry identified 15 stations for redevelopment under the PPP model, but only one has moved past the planning stage.
Vijayawada Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh is the only station to clear the appraisal stage, with the PPPAC approving its proposal.
No bids were received for the Vijayawada redevelopment, forcing the ministry to re-invite tenders for the project.
Rani Kamalapati station in Madhya Pradesh was cited as the model station developed and commissioned under the PPP framework.
The remaining 14 stations, including Chennai Central, Delhi Junction, Pune and Bengaluru's Krantivira Sangolli Rayanna station, are still in master planning and financial modelling.
