Before the big day, police also checked hotels, trains and other places to keep everyone safe.
During a night patrol, police caught a man with many boxes of illegal liquor hidden in a car.
The helper in the car was caught, but the driver ran away.
Police seized the liquor and are now looking for the driver who escaped.
Independence Day celebrations will be held at Lal Parade Ground in Bhopal on August 15, with elaborate traffic arrangements in place.
Entry towards Lal Parade Ground from DB Mall Tiraha, Lily Square and Roshanpura will remain completely restricted.
General visitors can park at MVM College Ground, MLA Rest House and Jail Headquarters Ground based on their passes.
On the eve of Independence Day, police seized 12 boxes containing 600 quarters of country-made liquor valued at around Rs 45,600 in Gandhi Nagar.
Aman Gharu alias Babla was arrested in the liquor case, while the driver, identified as Kuldeep of Bairagarh, fled and is being searched.
