Independence Day Traffic Jam in Bhopal Exposes Police Preparedness Gaps
On Independence Day, many families in Bhopal went to a popular spot called Boat Club to celebrate.
So many cars, bikes, and auto-rickshaws came that the roads got blocked for almost 3 kilometers.
The jam started around 1 o'clock in the afternoon, right after the flag-hoisting ceremony.
Roads from Polytechnic Square to Boat Club were full, and even people walking got stuck.
Everyone had to wait a long time in traffic.
To help, police stopped big trucks and heavy vehicles from entering the area until 5 pm.
This showed that the traffic police were not fully ready for such a big crowd.
Independence Day is a day when many people come out, but the traffic plans were still not enough.
The city learned that it needs better traffic management for big holidays.

As a temporary measure, police restricted entry of heavy and large vehicles into the area until 5 pm to ease congestion.
The jam raised questions over the preparedness of Bhopal Traffic Police to manage crowds at major tourist and recreational destinations during special occasions.
