BMC Seeks Party Help After 36 Lakh Voters Removed
Mumbai is checking its list of registered voters through a process called SIR-2026.
The BMC said 36 lakh names were removed from the voter list during this review.
Some eligible people may need to provide documents to have their names included.
BMC Commissioner Ashwini Bhide asked political parties to help voters with this process.
Booth Level Officers have been visiting households and collecting information.
People can file claims or objections from August 31 to September 30, 2026.
Officials will examine these claims and objections before completing the list.
The final voter list is expected on November 4, 2026.
The BMC said 36 lakh voter names were removed from Mumbai’s electoral rolls during SIR-2026.
Commissioner and District Election Officer Ashwini Bhide met political-party representatives to review the revision process.
The process includes Booth Level Officer visits, document collection, digitisation and publication of preliminary voter lists.
Voters can submit claims and objections between August 31 and September 30, 2026.
The final electoral roll is scheduled for publication on November 4, 2026.
