Delhi has started a new program called the Lakshmi Yojana that gives women a little money every month.

Women who are 21 to 60 years old and earn up to ₹2.5 lakh a year can get ₹2,500 each month.

They can choose to put part of the money in a savings account and the rest in a special digital wallet, or put all of it in a savings account.

The government will start accepting applications on August 1 and the first payment will be around the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

The plan is meant to help 17 lakh women and will run for three years, with a budget of ₹5,110 crore.
