Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Records 5.92 Lakh Registrations, ₹2,500 Monthly Aid
The Delhi government has started a special program called the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana to help women who do not have much money.
Every month, these women can get ₹2,500 from the government.
They can choose to spend ₹1,000 from a special digital wallet and save the rest, or save the whole amount.
Many women have already signed up — about 5.92 lakh in just 10 days.
The government wants to help 17 lakh women in total.
Women who qualify live in Delhi and must show proof they have lived there for 10 years.
They need documents like their Aadhaar card, a voter ID card, and a letter from their MLA or MP.
The first payment is planned for 28 August, which is the festival of Raksha Bandhan.
The government checks every application carefully so the money reaches the women who really deserve it.
The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana provides ₹2,500 monthly financial assistance to women from economically weaker sections (EWS) in Delhi.
Around 5.92 lakh women registered under the scheme in just 10 days, against a government target of 17 lakh.
Beneficiaries can choose between receiving ₹1,000 via a CBDC wallet plus ₹1,500 in an RD/FD, or the entire ₹2,500 in an RD/FD.
The first instalment is targeted for release on Raksha Bandhan, 28 August, with ₹5,100 crore allocated for the scheme in the FY27 budget.
As of last week, 5,14,460 women had registered and 2,18,728 applications were submitted, with North-East Delhi recording the highest registrations at 73,676.
Each application undergoes a four-level scrutiny and approval process, including document verification and PFMS integration.
