Himachal Pradesh announces subsidies, support for fishermen

The government of a place called Himachal Pradesh in India wants to help people who catch fish for a living.

These people are called fishermen.

If a fisherman buys a fishing boat, the government will pay most of the money for it.

The government will pay 70 percent of the boat's price.

The fisherman only has to pay 30 percent themselves.

Each fishing boat costs 50,000 rupees.

The government will also help fishermen buy fishing gear, like nets and other equipment.

Officials say this will make fishing stronger and more sustainable in the state.
