Telangana Clears Accident Insurance Scheme for 4.21 Lakh Fishermen

Telangana is a state in India, and its government wants to help fishermen stay safe.

Fishermen work on water, which can be dangerous, so accidents can happen.

The government started an insurance program just for them, called GAIS.

Insurance is like a promise that gives money to people when something bad happens.

More than four lakh fishermen between ages 18 and 70 can join.

If a fisherman dies in an accident, their family gets 5 lakh rupees.

If a fisherman becomes unable to work because of an accident, the government also gives money to help.

The Central and state governments share the cost of this program, so fishermen don't have to pay a single rupee.
