Himachal Monsoon Toll Reaches 259, Damage Tops Rs 1,200 Crore
Heavy monsoon rain has caused serious problems in Himachal Pradesh.
During 64 days, 259 people died.
Rain-related disasters caused 106 of the deaths, including deaths from landslides and drowning.
Road accidents caused the other 153 deaths.
Damage to public and private property was estimated at more than Rs 1,200 crore.
Many roads were blocked, and electricity and water services were disrupted.
Homes and animals were also lost during the disaster.
Government teams are working to repair the damage and restore essential services.

Public and private property damage was estimated at Rs 1,202.64 crore, including more than Rs 914 crore in Public Works Department losses.
A total of 150 roads, 374 distribution transformer regions and 40 water-supply schemes remained affected.
Restoration teams began work to reopen roads and restore electricity and water services.
