Telangana to Showcase Its Water Security Model at National Summit
Telangana is going to share its water-management plan at a national meeting in New Delhi.
The meeting will last two days.
It will discuss ways to build water projects on time and save rainwater.
It will also discuss keeping drinking-water sources safe and maintaining village water systems.
Telangana has many small irrigation sources, including thousands of tanks.
Officials say about 28,000 tanks have been mapped, tagged, and repaired.
These projects helped provide irrigation to nearly 25.7 lakh acres and restored some stored water.
The state will also explain how its connected tank system helps water move through entire groups of tanks.
Telangana was named the best state for water conservation in 2024.
Telangana will present its unified water-security model at a two-day Ministry of Jal Shakti summit in New Delhi.
The summit will address water-infrastructure projects, Catch the Rain, drinking-water source sustainability, and rural supply-system maintenance.
The state has mapped, geotagged, and restored about 28,000 of its 44,000 minor irrigation sources.
These efforts have stabilised irrigation across nearly 25.7 lakh acres and recovered about 9.7 TMC of storage capacity.
Telangana will highlight its chain-linked tank system and the expansion of water-conservation structures from 5.61 lakh to 15.88 lakh.
