Telangana CM distributes smart ration cards to 1.06 crore people
The leader of Telangana, a state in India, is called the Chief Minister.
His name is Revanth Reddy, and he recently gave out new ration cards to many people.
Ration cards are special passes that help poor families get food, sometimes for free.
These new smart cards have strong safety features so they cannot be easily copied.
Telangana says it is the only state that gives very good quality rice for free.
Poor people receive about 6 kilograms of this fine rice every month.
The program costs the state a lot of money, around ₹14,800 crore.
Earlier, the previous government did not give out ration cards for ten years.
Revanth Reddy also said the old government left the state with big debts.
He made speeches criticizing other political parties like BRS and BJP.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that smart ration cards have been distributed to 1.06 crore people in Telangana.
The cards carry state-of-the-art security features, and Telangana is the only state supplying fine-quality rice (sanna biyyam) free to the poor.
The fine rice program costs ₹14,800 crore, with 6 kg provided every month to each beneficiary.
Revanth Reddy visited Sangareddy on Saturday, unveiled statues of Nehru and Rajiv Gandhi, and was chief guest at the distribution program.
Reddy criticized the previous BRS government for issuing no ration cards for ten years and said the state pays ₹75,000 crore in interest on BRS-era debts.
