Devotees Gather at Indrakeeladri for Rakhi Purnima Celebrations
Thousands of people visited the temple on Friday for Rakhi Purnima.
The temple was decorated with flowers and lights.
Priests performed special prayers and fire rituals called homas.
A procession travelled around Indrakeeladri and returned to the temple.
Musicians, dancers and singers took part in the procession.
Women welcomed the deity’s vehicle at several places.
Officials arranged water, food, parking, security and other facilities for visitors.
Two senior public figures also prayed at the temple.
Thousands visited the Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy temple on Friday for Sravana Purnima, also called Rakhi Purnima.
The temple held Vedic rituals, homas and scriptural offerings during the second day of its annual Pavitrotsavams.
Authorities organised the traditional Indrakeeladri Giri Pradakshina procession with music, dances, bhajans and Vedic chants.
Officials reviewed arrangements for drinking water, sanitation, parking, traffic, security, queues and bathing facilities.
Mauritius Minister Lutchmanah Pentiah and Odisha High Court Chief Justice Harish Tandon offered prayers at the temple.
