BMC Approves ₹24.58 Crore for Andheri-Goregaon Bridge Power Shift
In Mumbai, the city is building a big new bridge across a creek called Goregaon Creek.
The bridge will connect Andheri West to Goregaon West.
It is a special kind of bridge held up by strong cables.
But Tata Power's big electric wires and tall towers were in the way.
The wires need to be moved before the bridge can be finished.
Moving them costs more money than the city first thought.
So the city approved extra money, ₹24.58 crore, to relocate the wires.
Now the whole bridge will cost ₹709.16 crore.
The bridge should help drivers travel with fewer traffic jams.
Construction work started in December 2025 and is currently underway.
The BMC approved ₹24.58 crore, up from an earlier ₹10 crore provision, to relocate Tata Power's 110-kV transmission line and towers obstructing the Andheri-Goregaon cable-stayed bridge.
The revised project cost of the bridge has risen to ₹709.16 crore from the earlier approved ₹694.50 crore, including taxes.
The cable-stayed bridge over Goregaon Creek will connect Millat Nagar-Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri West with Bhagat Singh Nagar in Goregaon West.
The bridge will provide an alternative north-south route between Goregaon and Oshiwara, easing traffic on S.V. Road, Link Road and Lokhandwala Circle.
The project was awarded on December 1, 2022, but construction only began on December 12, 2025 after land in the creek and mangrove areas was made available.
