Over 1.41 Crore UP Schoolchildren Join Independence Day Celebrations

India celebrates Independence Day every year on August 15.

That is the day, long ago, when India became a free country.

In 2026, more than 1.41 crore children in the state of Uttar Pradesh joined the celebrations.

They took part at over 1.32 lakh government schools called Parishadiya Vidyalayas and Kasturga Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas.

The children saluted the Indian flag, called the Tricolour, and sang the National Anthem and Vande Mataram together.

They also sang patriotic songs, recited poems, danced, acted in plays, and held Tiranga rallies.

Many schools organised debates and sports competitions connected to the freedom struggle.

Parents and villagers joined in too, turning the school programmes into community celebrations.

Education leaders and ministers hoisted the flag and shared messages about making education a powerful tool for nation-building.

Students from the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas reminded everyone that daughters are playing a leading role in education, self-reliance, and nation-building.
