Sion Railway Over Bridge Second Girder Launch Set, Opening Delayed

In Mumbai, there is a very old bridge called the Sion Railway Over Bridge.

It goes over train tracks, so people use it to drive from one side to the other.

The bridge has been closed since August 2024, which makes travel hard for many people.

Workers are rebuilding it using big steel parts called girders.

The first steel girder was put in place on June 22.

A second steel girder will be put in place during the night of August 8 and 9, when trains are stopped for a little while.

After that, there is still about 45 days of work left.

So the bridge will probably open to cars and buses at the end of September.

That is later than the first plan, which was August 15.

The city government and the railway are working together to finish the bridge and help commuters.
