12th National Handloom Day celebrated in Kapileswarapuram
People who weave cloth by hand had a special celebration day.
It was called the 12th National Handloom Day.
The celebration took place at a weaving society in Angara village in East Godavari district.
Government officers and weaving experts joined the event.
The weavers walked together in a rally.
They placed flowers on a statue of Mahatma Gandhi to honor him.
A leader said the government will help weaver families.
Families with looms will get free electricity and extra money.
Young people were asked to learn this old craft.
The day celebrated and thanked the weavers for their hard work.
The 12th National Handloom Day was celebrated with district-level events at Sri Ganapati Handloom Cooperative Society in Angara village, Kapileswarapuram mandal, East Godavari district.
Weavers Service Centre, Vijayawada, and Handlooms and Textiles Department, Kakinada jointly organized the celebrations.
Handloom workers took out a rally to Gandhi Bomma Centre and paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi's statue.
Chairman Vegulla Leela Krishna said the government will provide free power up to 200 units and credit Rs 25,000 to bank accounts of loom-owning handloom families under the Nethanna Sevalo scheme.
Assistant Collector K Aditya Sharma urged the younger generation to take up handloom weaving to carry forward the traditional craft.
