Naidu launches Nethanna Sevalo welfare scheme for handloom weavers
The chief minister of a state in India called Andhra Pradesh gave a big helping hand to people who make cloth by hand on weaving machines called looms.
These workers are called handloom weavers.
Each weaver family that qualifies got 25,000 rupees, which is a lot of money.
Many thousands of families will receive this help.
Older weavers also get a small monthly payment to help them.
The government is also paying part of the electricity bills for the looms.
The chief minister talked about other help too, like money for mothers and cheap meals.
He said he wants to build new roads and an airport so more people can visit.
He also said everyone should stay safe and help the police.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu launched the 'Nethanna Sevalo' scheme at Kothapeta in the Chirala constituency on the 12th National Handloom Day.
The scheme provides direct assistance of Rs 25,000 to each eligible handloom weaver family, benefiting 71,636 families at a cost of Rs 179 crore.
Naidu said the pension eligibility age for weavers was reduced to 50, with Rs 4,000 monthly pensions costing Rs 420 crore annually.
He announced power subsidies of up to 500 units for looms, Rs 10 crore for 10 handloom clusters, a Yarn Park at Mangalagiri, and an infrastructure project at Uppada.
Naidu condemned violence including the harassment of a female police officer during YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's tour to Srikakulam and vowed no compromise on law and order.
