Kanwariya swept away in Odisha, eight injured in mini-truck accident
During a special month called Shravan, Hindu people called kanwariyas travel to rivers and streams to collect water.
They carry the water back as a gift for Lord Shiva.
In the state of Odisha in India, some kanwariyas went to a stream at night to fill their pots.
The current in the stream was very strong and swept two people away.
Firefighters rescued one of them, named Smruti Ranjan.
The other person was still being searched for.
Smruti Ranjan said the strong water came from a dam that suddenly released water.
In a different part of Odisha, a small truck carrying about 20 kanwariyas tipped over.
Eight people were hurt, and three were hurt badly.
The injured were taken to a hospital, and police said they were out of danger.
Two kanwariyas were swept away by the strong stream current near Dipirisingha in Angul district, Odisha, on Sunday night.
Fire service personnel rescued one of them, identified as Smruti Ranjan, while a search operation continued for the other missing devotee.
Ranjan claimed the incident occurred due to the sudden release of water from Derjang Dam.
Eight kanwariyas, three seriously, were injured when their mini-truck overturned near Kaliabali in Ganjam district.
The injured, including the driver, were admitted to a hospital in Chhatrapur, with three later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
