Chhattisgarh CM Sai Unveils State-of-the-Art Cancer Institute in Raipur
In India, there is a state called Chhattisgarh.
On Sunday, the state's leader, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, opened a new hospital just for treating cancer.
The hospital is called the Ramakrishna Care Cancer Institute and it is in the city of Raipur.
It was built by a private group and stands on the grounds of an older hospital called Ramkrishna Care Hospital.
At this new hospital, people with cancer can get tests, treatment, and other help all in one place.
The Chief Minister said the hospital is a new chapter for the state's health care.
He said Chhattisgarh has improved a lot since it was created in the year 2000.
The health minister said the state had only one medical college back then, and now it has 15.
Better hospitals are also being built in other parts of the state, so sick people do not always need to travel far to Raipur.
This means more people can get good treatment close to home.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated the state-of-the-art Ramakrishna Care Cancer Institute, a private sector initiative, in Raipur.
The institute, set up on the premises of Ramkrishna Care Hospital, lets cancer patients access diagnosis, treatment and other services in a single campus.
Sai was accompanied by Assembly speaker and former chief minister Dr. Raman Singh and state health minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal.
Health minister Jaiswal said Chhattisgarh's medical colleges rose from one at the state's 2000 formation to 15 now, with ten added under Dr. Singh.
Expanding super-specialty care means cardiac surgeries are now performed in Jagdalpur, and a super-specialty hospital recently opened in Bilaspur, with two more under construction.
