Mumbai Water Stock at 92%, BMC Retains 10% Cut

Mumbai is a big city in India that gets its water from seven big lakes.

These lakes are like giant bathtubs that store rainwater.

This year, after lots of rain, the lakes are 92% full.

That means there is enough water for about 323 days.

Some lakes got so full that water is flowing over the top, which is called overflowing.

But the water is still less than what the city needs for a whole year.

Mumbai needs more water by October to be completely safe.

The people who run the city, called the BMC, are still asking everyone to use 10% less water.

They are saving water just in case it does not rain much more.

Saving water is like saving money for a rainy day.
