Khar Police Book Link Square Office-Bearers Over ₹4.47-Crore Tax Default
A group of people who run a shopping mall in Mumbai are in trouble with the police.
The mall is called Link Square and has 198 shops and a restaurant.
The people in charge were supposed to collect money from shop owners to pay the city's property tax.
But the police say they kept the money instead of paying the city, so the mall now owes ₹4.47 crore.
A shop owner named Siraj Qureshi complained about this after buying a shop there in 2009.
He says the leaders never held elections or showed members the money records.
A big fire in 2025 damaged the mall, and the leaders did not start repairs.
Members went to the Bombay High Court, and a special manager has been running the mall since November 11, 2025.
The police have now registered a case against the three leaders: Abdul Mithiborwala, Tabassum Shaikh, and Ashif Shaikh.
Khar Police registered an FIR against office-bearers of Link Square Premises Co-operative Housing Society over an alleged ₹4.47-crore property tax default.
The society collected ₹2.73 crore towards property tax from members but allegedly did not deposit it with the BMC, pushing dues with penalties to ₹4.47 crore.
The mall on 33rd Road in Khar West comprises 198 shops and a restaurant and was registered in 2007.
Complainant Siraj Qureshi alleged that no elections have been held since registration and members were never given audited financial statements.
The Bombay High Court appointed an administrator to manage the mall on November 11, 2025, after a major fire and the tax dispute in 2025.
