BMC Issues 7-Day Auction Notices to Mumbai Property Tax Defaulters
BMC Issues 7-Day Auction Notices To Kandivali, Santacruz Property Tax Defaulters Over ₹4.7 Crore Dues · freepressjournal.in

The BMC is the government body that runs the city of Mumbai in India.

Every year, people who own buildings have to pay a tax to the BMC, and that money helps pay for roads, water, and cleaning services.

Two property owners in Mumbai did not pay their taxes, and now they owe a very large amount of money.

Together, the two owners owe over ₹4.7 crore, which is more than forty million rupees.

The BMC has given them a final warning: pay the money you owe within seven days, or your property will be sold at an auction.

One owner has a flat in Kandivali West and owes about Rs 68 lakh including a penalty.

The other owner has a big commercial property in Santacruz East and owes more than four crore rupees including a penalty.

A special law gives the BMC the power to sell properties when owners refuse to pay their taxes.

Most property owners in Mumbai do pay on time — in fact, this year the BMC collected even more money than it expected.
