Weightlifter Raja Muthupandian Gets Hero's Welcome at Thoothukudi

A weightlifter named Raja Muthupandian won a silver medal at a big sports competition called the Commonwealth Games.

The games were held in Glasgow, Scotland.

He lifted weights in the 65 kilogram category and represented India.

When he came back home, many people welcomed him at the airport in Thoothukudi, a town in India.

His father, coaches, and fellow weightlifters greeted him with garlands, shawls, and sweets.

He said the medal was for his parents, who worked hard to help him succeed.

He has been training in weightlifting since he was 13 years old.

He asked young people to play sports so they stay away from drugs.

He also asked parents to encourage their children to take part in sports.

His dream is to win medals for India at the Asian Games and the Olympic Games.
