Manipur CM felicitates Commonwealth Games silver medallist Rishikanta Singh

A weightlifter named Rishikanta Singh won a big silver medal at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The Commonwealth Games is a large sports event where athletes from many countries compete.

Rishikanta lifted a total of 264 kilograms to finish second in his weight category.

A weightlifter from Malaysia, Mohamad Aniq, lifted more and won the gold medal.

After he came home, the Chief Minister of Manipur, the state Rishikanta is from, held a special celebration for him.

The Chief Minister said the government might give medallists more rewards and prizes.

He also said most sportspersons from Manipur come from families that do not have much money.

Rishikanta told young athletes that even if they cannot afford expensive food or diets, they can still succeed.

He said hard work, discipline and never giving up are what really matter.

Everyone praised him for making his state and country proud.
