Kerala Ghee Supply Probe Ordered for Sabarimala
The Sabarimala temple in Kerala is having a problem with the ghee (a type of butter) that is used for religious rituals.
The minister says that the temple did not get all the ghee it ordered and that some of the ghee that was delivered was not good.
He wants the police to investigate and make sure the people who caused the problem are punished.
The board that runs the temple says it did everything right and that it tested the ghee before using it.
The board also says it will test each batch of ghee more carefully in the future.
The investigation will look at whether the ghee was bad before it reached the temple or after it arrived.
Kerala Devaswom Minister K Muraleedharan has ordered the Crime Branch to investigate alleged irregularities in the 2025‑26 ghee supply to Sabarimala.
The report claims the Travancore Devaswom Board contracted Milma for 1.65 lakh litres, but only 1.5 lakh litres were delivered and the rest was missing.
Six of the 30 batches tested were substandard, leading the minister to call the issue “criminal negligence” and demand legal action.
TDB President K Jayakumar denies the board’s involvement, stating the board had decided not to procure outside ghee and that all Milma consignments were tested before use.
The board will implement stricter batch‑wise testing and digital tracking of any future ghee procurement to prevent recurrence.
