15-Year-Old Falls Ill After Consuming Kolhapuri Mutton Allegedly Containing Dead Rat In Khandwa · freepressjournal.in

A 15-year-old boy in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, got very sick after eating lunch at home.

His father had bought a mutton dish, called Kolhapuri mutton, from a hotel named Bismillah Hotel.

After eating, the boy started vomiting, and the family found a dead rat in the food.

They believed the boy ate part of the rat by mistake, thinking it was meat.

He was taken to a hospital, where doctors treated him for about two hours before he went home.

Someone reported the hotel on the CM Helpline, a special government help line in Madhya Pradesh.

Food safety officers visited the hotel, took food samples, and found the hotel did not have a valid food registration.

Now the hotel operator faces action under the Food Safety and Standards Act.

In a separate action, officials in Itarsi raided food units near the railway station and seized spoiled food.
