Former MLA alleges government failed to protect Andhra temples
Malladi Vishnu, a former YSRCP lawmaker, said the Andhra Pradesh government did not protect some temples well enough.
He pointed to jewellery reportedly missing from a temple in Pedakakani.
The jewellery was said to belong to Goddess Bhramaramba.
He asked officials to find out whether it was stolen and whether security cameras were working.
He also questioned the actions of temple officials and security staff.
Vishnu mentioned other alleged problems involving temple gold and donation money.
He asked the government to improve security and investigate the matter.
He also asked officials to address priests’ pay, healthcare and housing concerns.
He said his party would continue campaigning if the government did not act.

He cited the alleged disappearance of mangalsutras belonging to Goddess Bhramaramba at Malleshwara Swamy temple in Pedakakani.
Vishnu demanded a comprehensive inquiry into the missing jewellery, CCTV systems and the conduct of security and Endowments Department officials.
He also cited alleged earlier incidents involving gold, hundi cash and counting irregularities at Pedakakani and other temples.
Vishnu called for better temple security and support for priests, and warned that the YSRCP would intensify its campaign if action was not taken.
