Ongole Collector Leads Tree Plantation Drive on Independence Day Eve
A special day was coming in India called Independence Day.
On the day before it, important officials in a city called Ongole got together.
They planted new trees near their office building.
This is called a tree plantation drive.
They were celebrating 80 years of India being free.

Steps were taken to ensure the national flag flew over every house, and rallies were held to spread national unity and patriotism.
Raja Babu urged every citizen to take part in such programmes personally and to plant trees and nurture them to full growth.
Similar programmes were held on a large scale at mandal and village levels, with District Forest Officer Vinod Kumar among the attending officials.
