Ongole is starting a major project to improve its drinking water supply.

The project will cost Rs 424 crore.

It will build new pipes across more than 605 kilometres.

More than 51,000 homes will receive water connections.

The goal is to provide water at all times, instead of only during certain hours.

Right now, some homes receive water only once every three or four days.

The amount of water available to each person is expected to nearly double.

New water tanks will be built, and old pipes will be replaced.

Roads will be repaired after the pipe work is finished.
