Farmers Declared Dead Forced to Prove They're Alive

Some farmers in a place called Madhya Pradesh have a big problem.

The government's records say they are dead, even though they are alive and still farming.

Because of this mistake, they stopped getting money from a government program that helps farmers.

The program is called PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi.

To get the money back, the farmers have to prove to the government that they are not dead.

They visit offices again and again and show their documents, but nothing changes.

One farmer, Bretna Yadav, has been trying for four years.

Another farmer, Irfan Jafri, has been waiting for eight months.

A 93-year-old farmer named Lalmani Mishra says the trips to government offices are very hard for him.

A government official says he will look into any complaints and try to fix them.
