The Farmer Registry is a digital system that records farmers, their land and farming information.

Ratlam officials said some areas were registering farmers too slowly.

Because of this, two patwaris were suspended and 10 others lost one day’s salary.

The officials said the two suspended workers did not answer notices asking for an explanation.

The Patwari Association disagreed with the punishment.

It said the suspended patwaris had recently started working in those areas.

It also said computer problems with passwords, phone numbers and Aadhaar checks made the work harder.

The patwaris protested and said they might hold stronger protests if the actions are not cancelled.
