BMC proposes Rs 702-crore underground walkway beneath Mahalaxmi Racecourse

The city of Mumbai wants to build a very long underground walkway for people to walk through.

It would be about 3 kilometers long, which is like walking across many football fields.

The walkway would go under the ground and even pass beneath a big horse racing field called Mahalaxmi Racecourse.

It would connect a train station called Nehru Science Centre Metro station to a nice seaside path at Haji Ali.

The walkway would cost a lot of money, about Rs 702.44 crore.

It would also have underground parking and indoor places for people to play and relax.

The city's government, called the BMC, came up with this idea as a test project.

They want another company, MMRCL, to build it for them.

The plan still needs to be approved by a city committee before work can begin.
