Mumbai's First Metro-Integrated Flyover Set To Open In Phases
Mumbai is building a large flyover to make travel across the city easier.
It will connect Andheri West on the western side with Poonam Nagar on the eastern side.
Parts of the flyover will be built above or alongside metro tracks.
The first part is planned to open by December 2026.
The rest is expected to be ready by May 2027.
One section will include a special bridge over the Western Express Highway and Metro Line 7.
The project is intended to reduce traffic jams at several busy junctions.
It should also help cars move more smoothly along the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road.
Mumbai’s first metro-integrated flyover will connect Andheri West with Poonam Nagar via the JVLR corridor.
The 5.08-kilometre project is being developed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority.
The first 2.58-kilometre double-decker section has reached 80% physical progress.
The second section includes a 120-metre cable-stayed bridge and has recorded 58.41% progress.
The corridor is scheduled to open from Infinity Mall to JVLR Junction by December 2026 and to Poonam Nagar by May 2027.
