BMC Appoints VJTI for ₹6.09 Crore GMLR Flyover Audit
Mumbai is building a large road project called the Goregaon Mulund Link Road.
One part will add a new flyover above an existing road.
The city’s civic body has asked VJTI to check whether the flyover is being designed and built properly.
VJTI will work as an independent inspector.
The inspection service will cost ₹6.09 crore.
The project will also include road ramps, interchanges and tunnels.
These changes are intended to reduce traffic between Mumbai’s eastern and western areas.
The full project is expected to be ready by February 2029.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation appointed Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute to independently audit the GMLR Phase 4 cable-stayed flyover.
The ₹6.09 crore audit will assess technical quality, construction standards and project durability.
Phase 4 Part A includes a 1,330-metre second-level flyover over the Eastern Express Highway, with a 180-metre span.
Part B will add 2,400 metres of elevated cloverleaf interchanges and 3,600 metres of permanent at-grade bypass roads at Mulund.
The 12.20-kilometre GMLR project, including 4.70-kilometre twin tunnels, is targeted for completion by February 2029.
