MMRDA Begins Rehabilitation Of 94 Garib Nagar Families
MMRDA has started giving new homes to families from Garib Nagar.
These families were affected when huts were removed for the expansion of Bandra Terminus.
There are 100 families that were officially found eligible for rehabilitation.
On October 1, possession letters were given to 94 of them.
The other six families are expected to receive their letters soon.
Sixteen families will get homes in Kurla.
Eighty-four families will get homes at the Bhandari Metalurgy project.
The rehabilitation had been delayed partly because occupancy certificates were not available.
After the eligible families receive homes, MMRDA is expected to ask railway authorities about the remaining structures.
MMRDA issued possession letters to 94 of 100 eligible Garib Nagar families on October 1, 2026.
