Telangana Draft Electoral Rolls Published, Over 73 Lakh Names Deleted

In the Indian state of Telangana, adults are getting ready to vote in elections.

Before voting, officials make a list of everyone who is allowed to vote.

They went door to door to check the list and found many names that should not be there.

Some people had moved away, some had passed away, and some were on the list more than once.

Because of this, the new draft list has about 73 lakh fewer names.

People whose names are missing can ask to be put back on the list.

Officials will listen to them before making any final decisions.

The final list will be ready in October.
