Before elections, the government checks the list of people who are allowed to vote.

This list is called the electoral roll.

In Andhra Pradesh, the Chief Electoral Officer's office is carefully checking this list through a special review called the Special Intensive Revision.

They found that about 44.89 lakh names may need to be removed from the list.

Some people may have passed away, some may have moved to a different place, and some names may be written twice by mistake.

The office shared a list showing how many names are proposed for removal in each district.

The highest numbers are in Nellore and Tirupati districts.

The office also sent notices to many voters so they can check whether their names are correct.

They also found mistakes in the details of about 36 lakh voters, like wrong names or ages.

This work helps make sure only the right people can vote.
