A new high-speed railway is being built between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.

One important part runs through Maharashtra’s Thane and Palghar districts.

This section will be 135.45 kilometres long and mostly elevated above the ground.

Workers are building tracks, bridges, tunnels and stations.

Stations are planned at Thane, Virar and Boisar.

Some of the railway’s supports, called piers, are already finished.

Three mountain tunnels have been dug through completely, but more work is still needed inside them.
