Kavach 4.0 Commissioned Across 131-Kilometre Telangana Railway Section
Indian Railways has installed a safety system called Kavach 4.0 on a 131-kilometre railway section in Telangana.
The section connects Pagidipalli and Vishnupuram Junction.
Kavach helps train drivers follow speed limits and respond safely to signals.
If a driver does not brake when necessary, the system can apply the brakes automatically.
It is also designed to help prevent trains from passing a stop signal.
The new version can locate trains more accurately and provide more information in large railway yards.
It can also let stations communicate through optical fibre cable.
This installation follows another Kavach 4.0 deployment on South Central Railway in September.
Indian Railways commissioned Kavach 4.0 on the 131-route-km Pagidipalli–Vishnupuram Junction section in Telangana.
The section is part of the Secunderabad Division of South Central Railway.
Kavach can support speed compliance, prevent Signal Passing at Danger and automatically apply brakes when needed.
Version 4.0 adds improved location accuracy, enhanced yard signal information and station-to-station communication through optical fibre cable.
As of July 31, 2026, Kavach 4.0 had been commissioned across 2,633 route km, according to official data.
