Railway Ministry Approves Train Link, Kavach Safety Expansion
The Railway Ministry approved a new train connecting Machilipatnam and Kurnool City.
It will travel through Vijayawada and cover 499 kilometres.
The train will run three times a week in each direction.
It will stop at 12 stations along the route.
The Ministry did not say when the service will begin.
The Ministry also approved a safety upgrade called Kavach 4.0.
This system can help stop trains from passing red signals and can apply brakes when needed.
The upgrade will cover part of Varanasi Division and cost ₹223 crore.
The Railway Ministry approved a tri-weekly Machilipatnam–Kurnool City Express via Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
The 499-kilometre train will leave Machilipatnam at 4:55 pm and reach Kurnool City at 5:45 am the next day on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.
For its return journey, the train will depart Kurnool City at 9:30 am and reach Machilipatnam at 21:35 on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
The service will stop at 12 intermediate stations, including Gudivada, Vijayawada, Nandyal and Dhone; no start date was announced.
Separately, the Ministry approved Kavach 4.0 coverage for 614.75 route kilometres in Varanasi Division at a cost of ₹223 crore.
