Gujarat Rail Projects Add Kavach, Signalling and Track Capacity
Railway officials started several important projects in Gujarat.
A safety system called Kavach was turned on along two railway routes.
Kavach can help stop trains from going too fast and reduce risks caused by human mistakes.
Automatic signals were also added to two routes so trains can travel safely at shorter intervals.
This may allow more trains to use the tracks.
Workers also began building a second track between Sabarmati and Sarkhej.
The new track is expected to help passenger and freight trains move more smoothly.
These projects are part of a larger railway investment worth more than Rs 1,542 crore.
Kavach train protection was commissioned on the 157-km Ahmedabad-Palanpur and 247-km Ahmedabad-Samakhiyali sections.
Automatic signalling was launched across 122.57 km on the Sabarmati-Sanand-Jakhwada and Sabarmati-Kalol-Bhandu Motidau routes.
Doubling work began on the 21-km Sabarmati-Sarkhej section, with completion targeted for March 2028.
The doubling project, costing about Rs 313.27 crore, includes bridges, road underbridges and level-crossing works.
The railway initiatives are part of projects worth more than Rs 1,542 crore being unveiled in Sabarmati and Ahmedabad.
