Andhra Pradesh Sanctions Rs 400 Crore Visakhapatnam Road Development Plan
The state government approved money to improve roads in Visakhapatnam.
The plan will cost Rs 400 crore.
About 205 kilometres of older gravel roads will become stronger bitumen or concrete roads.
Sidewalks and other road features will also be added.
The work will include medians, lights in the middle of roads and drains.
GVMC will provide half the money, and VMRDA will provide the other half.
Projects will be planned across all 10 GVMC zones.
Officials will first inspect the roads and then begin construction as soon as possible.
The state government approved a Rs 400 crore action plan for roads and related infrastructure within GVMC limits.
About 205 kilometres of gravel and WBM roads will be upgraded to bituminous or cement-concrete roads.
The project will include end-to-end pavements, central medians, central lighting and drains.
GVMC and VMRDA will each contribute Rs 200 crore toward the plan.
Works will cover all 10 reorganised GVMC zones after field surveys and preparation of estimates.
