Andhra Pradesh Sanctions Rs 7,469 Crore Urban Infrastructure Programme
The Andhra Pradesh government plans to spend Rs 7,469.46 crore improving towns and cities.
The work will happen in 123 Urban Local Bodies.
Most of the money will pay for roads and drains.
The plan also includes parks, street lights and central road medians.
About 4,388 kilometres of urban roads still need improvement.
Some money will be provided by the government, while concessionaires will finance the rest.
The concessionaires will be repaid over 10 years and maintain the assets during that period.
The government also wants to improve water, sewage, drainage and waste systems.
It has planned new parks, planted trees and ordered facilities to process solid waste.
Andhra Pradesh sanctioned Rs 7,469.46 crore for infrastructure improvements across 123 Urban Local Bodies.
The package includes Rs 5,500 crore for capital works and Rs 1,969.46 crore in estimated interest over 10 years.
Roads and drainage receive Rs 4,655.82 crore, while parks, lighting and central medians receive additional funding.
The Hybrid Annuity Model programme targets the remaining 4,388 km of the state’s 25,626-km urban road network.
The wider plan includes parks, tree planting, solid-waste facilities, Waste-to-Energy projects and Compressed Bio-Gas plants.
