Andhra Pradesh Reorganises AHUDA, Renames It Anantapur Urban Development Authority
The government in Andhra Pradesh decided to change how a city-planning group works.
This group was called AHUDA.
It used to look after two districts.
Now it will only look after one area, and it has a new name.
The new name is Anantapur Urban Development Authority.
Some towns and villages will no longer be part of the group.
These towns are in a different district called Sri Sathya Sai.
The group will now cover six towns and 31 village areas.
It will take care of 507 villages spread over a very large area.
The change is meant to make planning and management of cities better and more organised.
The Andhra Pradesh government reorganised AHUDA, excluding five urban local bodies and 26 mandals from its jurisdiction.
The authority has been renamed the Anantapur Urban Development Authority (ATP UDA) under G.O.Ms.No.197.
The excluded ULBs — Dharmavaram, Hindupur, Kadiri, Madakasira and Penukonda — are all in Sri Sathya Sai district.
The reorganised ATP UDA will comprise six ULBs and 31 full mandals, covering 507 revenue villages across 10,205 sq km.
The reorganisation aims to streamline administration, ensure coordinated urban development and improve spatial planning.
