Andhra Pradesh Rationalises UDA Jurisdictions, Creates Three New Authorities
The government of Andhra Pradesh, a state in India, decided to reorganise the areas that its city-planning offices, called Urban Development Authorities, look after.
These offices help plan and manage how cities and towns grow.
The state recently created new districts, so the old planning areas no longer matched them.
To fix this, the government is changing the boundaries of many planning offices.
It is also creating three brand-new offices in Markapuram, Bhimavaram, and Nandyal.
Some offices are getting new names, like the Chittoor office, which will now be called Chittoor–Palamaneru–Kuppam.
The government says this will make it easier for different departments to work together.
Officials talked to local leaders before making these changes.
The goal is to make sure every town is looked after by the right office.
The Andhra Pradesh government has rationalised the territorial jurisdictions of Urban Development Authorities (UDAs) to align urban administration with the state's restructured districts and revenue divisions.
Three new UDAs will be constituted with headquarters at Markapuram, Bhimavaram and Nandyal.
Existing UDAs including Tirupati, Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region, Puttaparthi, Nellore, Ongole, Eluru, Kurnool, Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Kadapa and Bapatla will be realigned through inclusion or exclusion of ULBs, mandals and villages.
The Chittoor UDA will be renamed Chittoor–Palamaneru–Kuppam UDA, the Palamaneru-Kuppam-Madanapalle UDA will be reorganised as the Annamayya UDA, and the Anantapur-Hindupur UDA will be renamed the Anantapur UDA.
Minister P Narayana said extensive consultations were held with public representatives, while Principal Secretary Suresh Kumar said the exercise will provide clearer jurisdictions and smoother coordination.
